Real Threat of Russia-Linked Cyberattacks: Europe on Alert

European Commission Vice-President Margaritis Schinas has issued a warning that Europe faces a real threat from cyber-attacks with a clear link to Russia. Although in the past it might have been considered naïve, the European Union is now better prepared to face these challenges.

Deepfake and the New Era of Cyber Threats

Schinas highlighted that cyber attackers are increasingly using advanced technologies, such as Deepfake, to undermine European security. These attacks not only affect governments but also institutions and ordinary citizens. Recently, cross-border investigations revealed evidence of Russian meddling, including within the European Parliament.

European Elections and the Intensification of the Fight.

With the European elections approaching, the fight against cyber threats will intensify. Cybersecurity tools and cooperation between member states are crucial to counter malicious attacks. Europe is no longer naive and is ready to protect its digital integrity.
